Tracking and Tracing Railcars
DTETS will electronically capture Car Location Messages (“CLMs”) as reported by the railroads. You can enter your fixed fleet of cars into the system or we will track the Foreign Marked or Railroad Marked cars moving your shipments from the time the Bill of Lading (“BOL”) is received into the system until the car is empty released. All information is updated hourly with the most current CLMs and BOLS. You will have 24/7 access to the system from anywhere you can connect to the Internet.
CLM Data
CLM data will be stored in the database. So you have access to all CLM movement on a current trip and all historical CLM data from past trips. You can monitor the current location of your shipments and if they are delayed you can research to see where the delay happened. Additionally you have access to all historical trips.
CLM Accuracy
A DTETS Transportation Specialist will monitor the CLM data and take reasonable effort to correct and update errors. With ShurTrack you will know where your shipment is, whether it is loaded or empty, and where it is going.
BOL Data
With the BOL data you will know how long your loaded trip has been in transit. You will also know if the car is moving out of route or to the wrong destination. The BOL’s will remain in the database so you will have to access to historical BOL data. *You must subscribe to BOL imports in order to capture Railroad Marked or Foreign Marked cars moving your shipments.

UnitTrain Tracking System
If you are a unit train shipper you are not necessarily interested in each location of every car in your fleet, but more interested in the location of your Train Sets. The UnitTrain module reports the current location of each of your sets and summarizes them by Loaded and Empty trains. The information is updated hourly so you always have the latest location. The screens display the number of cars the train was released with and also the number of cars that are currently on the train as well as the Railroad Train ID of the train as reported by the handling railroad.
Dynamic Train Sets
DTETS custom logic groups your fleet cars into dynamic train sets so you can track the transit movements of your train sets. You have the ability to update the Set Name to your company’s identifiers. The set name will always remain with train in the current reporting and also in historical management reports. The train summary pages will show the current location of the train and list the trace car associated with the movement. The train detail option will show you the list of individual cars that are currently on the train set as well as any straggler car that was originally on the train but has been pulled off. From here you can select the trip detail of any individual railcar and view all the CLM data from the current trip.
Organization of Fleet
UnitTrain will organize your fleet so you have the ability to effectively manage your railcars. Along with the dynamic grouping of cars into train sets and display on the loaded and empty train summary pages, you have access to the individual railcars in your fleet that are not running on a train. These straggler cars are separated on the Loaded and Empty Straggler pages. From here you have the ability to group these cars into other statuses. Our goal is to help you keep your fleet organized so that you can get the highest utilization from your fleet of railcars.
Management Reports
The UnitTrain Average Cycle Report reports the cycle times of your train sets. If you have named the train sets, the management reports retain this designation. You can monitor the cycles of your trains and identify any set that took longer than the average or the contracted time. You can research these exceptions to find out where the dwell times occurred.
